Remember not to dilute the acrylic colors or they will unnecessary smear around just that on tissue.
Prepare the surface of the box by applying a coat of gesso. Gesso acts as a primer and will provide the best surface for gluing tissue and coloring. Allow the surface to dry fully and apply a coat of Mod Podge. Place the newspaper cuttings as per your plan. Apply colors as required. Once finished seal it with a coat of Mod Podge. In short, the process is similar to regular decoupage, with paper as newspaper or magazine cutting.
In case of magazine paper or magazine cuttings, there is a difference in the type of paper. Magazine paper is stiffer than newspaper. Cover page of magazine is thick and glossy. While pasting it on say a board or wood, use it the same way as decoupage paper.
